KLANK-R

Klank-R had been a game concept I wanted to design for a few months. After getting a basic concept of level design and flow down on grid paper and honing the core mechanics I wanted to implement I then began gathering references and inspiration to draw from. Games such as Crash Bandicoot, Oddworld and the level "Raxus Prime" from Star Wars Force Unleashed gave me a great basis for not only game-play and mechanics but also for aesthetics and artistic direction. I was conscious that although I wanted to create a side scrolling platformer I wanted depth to be prevalent, utilising both the fore and backgrounds to really bring the world of Klank-R to life. Whilst I wanted to include massive moving gears and pipes to bring a sense of scale and grandeur I also wanted to ensure that the stuff going on in the background didn't detract from the game-play.

The game was made using Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D, Photoshop and Substance Painter.

All mechanics were created using Blueprints and animations were created using Unreal's Matinee.
